Overwater Bungalows In the Caribbean

Thatched Overwater Bungalows and Villas in Caribbean

Bora Bora and the Maldives have been building overwater bungalows for over 20 years, and it looks like the Caribbean is finally going to see overwater bungalows. Recently there have been articles of overwater bungalows being proposed for the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos and the West Indies. Of these, the West Indies overwater bungalows look to be the only bungalows in the construction phase, the rest have either stalled or are still in the concept phase.  The Tiki Hut Company inquiries have increased for overwater bungalows from clients throughout the Caribbean. This has notably increased in early 2013.

Overwater bungalows are plentiful in the Pacific, due to reefs and lagoons around Atolls in the South Pacific or calm ocean conditions in the Maldives.  The Caribbean has a few naturally formed bays and lagoons that would be suited for overwater bungalows, but they are scarce.  Tidal surge, hurricanes and rough sea conditions have minimized ideal locations as well as restrictions placed by some Caribbean governments, have more than likely been the main factors why the Caribbean do not have an abundance of overwater bungalows. With improved construction and design techniques, as well as the government s willingness to look at each project individually, seems to indicate that the Caribbean is poised for a boom of overwater bungalows.

The Tiki Hut Company (TTHC) is positioning itself to cater to this growing industry of thatched overwater bungalows in the Caribbean. We have been operating throughout the Caribbean since 2006 on projects such as thatched bungalows, IPE docks and decks, piling, thatched pavilions, re-thatching and custom theming project, to name a few.
